ago, Cloud lived in the small town of Nibelheim, along with Tifa
Lockheart. Cloud has such a strong crush on this girl that he
was willing to do anything to grab her attention. However, Tifa
never did actually pay too much attention to him, and instead
spent her time with the other boys in the town. Still, Cloud
took all of his chances. Cloud knew he had to become stronger to
become more noticed by the others, including Tifa. Thus, he came
with the decision to join SOLDIER. Some people believed that he
hadn't really chose to join because of Tifa, and it was only to
become stronger, due to his history of being ignored and bullied
on. However, most people who have some sort of feelings for
another, tend to do anything they can to be noticed by that
person. Cloud figured since Tifa spent her time with the other
tougher boys, maybe she'd take more notice of him after he
joined SOLDIER.
Before he left, Cloud decided to announce the news to Tifa,
meeting at the center of the town, atop the well. There, the
young Cloud told Tifa of his plans to leave for Midgar. Tifa was
probably surprised about a boy like Cloud doing such a thing,
but already knew that most of the boys in town were off to do
the same thing. But Cloud said he was different. That he'd
become tough and well-known like the "great Sephiroth". Tifa
then made him promise her that when this happened, he'd come to
rescue her when she needed him.
Tifa was believed to have never noticed Cloud at all, but
perhaps she did. Otherwise, why would she tell Cloud to such a
promise? Maybe she just didn't know how to act with Cloud. He
wasn't that popular among the town and not many others spent
their time with him. Tifa perhaps always looked at the boy and
wondered what he was like and what he was feeling.
Some time before, Tifa had run off into Mt. Nibel after the
death of her mother, looking for her. Although the boys that
spent time with Tifa followed her, they eventually turned back
not wanting to go deeper in the mountains. However, Cloud still
followed Tifa, concerned about her. Eventually, they both
approached a bridge that fell apart, causing both to fall. Cloud
wasn't badly hurt, but apparently Tifa fell into a coma. Cloud
blamed himself for this, and thus came with the plans for
SOLDIER.
At the well later, when he made his announcement, he made the
promise to save her when needed.
This promise became very important in their story, creating a
deep connection with the two. Eventually, Cloud's "crush" on
Tifa wasn't much of a matter anymore. He moved on from the
childhood crush, even when he was reunited with Tifa once again.
But somehow, his feelings were her, though deep down now, were
still there. It was Cloud's feelings for Tifa, not the money,
was what convinced him to join in AVALANCHE's cause. When
reminded of his promise to her, he decided to go along with her
further.
Cloud eventually met Aeris, who he eventually cared deeply
about. Still, even with feelings for the flower girl, Cloud
still felt something for Tifa. Throughout the story, Tifa tries
to reach out to him. Though she didn't take much notice of him
as children, it was now that she had begun to fall in love with
him, in hopes that he would return her feelings. Tifa knew of
his feelings for Aeris, but still stood by him, relocating his
lost memories and standing by his side to kept him from any sort
of loneliness.
Even years after Aeris' death, Cloud's thoughts were still
reminded of it, preventing him from living his life. Although
understanding how effected he was by this, Tifa was still upset
that Cloud hadn't taken notice of the things he still had in
life, such as her, Marlene, Denzel, and everyone else.
Cloud eventually realized that though Aeris was gone, he wasn't
alone. He did have Tifa, who he did love truly. He knew Tifa
would never leave his side, no matter what the case, and knew if
he just accepted her there, he could go on with his life, with
her by his side. If he would realize, he could go on with Tifa,
living happily. Though Aeris took a large part of his heart,
Tifa took another and remained to be very much important to him.
Thus, he chooses to live the rest of his life with Tifa. |
